Day 21 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Cinnamon Blueberry Pie Smoothie

Today’s shake was definitely yummy!  Not the best of the bunch, but definitely up there in the top 5 out of 21 so far.  Based on my previous experience with the apple smoothies, I chose to use only 1/2 of an apple — and it really helped!  It really avoided the applesauce texture of the Day 6 and Day 7 Green Smoothie Challenge.  I did skip the avocado as I am not a fan of them and again used spinach for my greens.  Also, cinnamon can be very strong, so I just used a “dash” and it was plenty.  I think a teaspoon would be way too much!  I also added a scoop of my  Essante Organics 7.365ph Vanilla Shake mix as suggested to make it extra yummy!

1/2 Cup Blueberries
1 Apple, Cored
1 tsp. Cinnamon

1-2 Handfuls of Kale or Other Greens
1 Cup Almond Milk or Water
Bonus Option: You can also add plant-based protein powder, chia seeds or
hemp seeds

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

Day 15 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Rawkin Berry Green Smoothie

Surprisingly not the greatest … even with the berries and banana.  I used spinach instead of dandelion greens and no seeds or Spirulina.  All I used was 1/2 strawberries, 1/2 blueberries, lime, banana and spinach.  Nothing too outrageous, so I’m not sure why it didn’t all come together??  I was really expecting it to be similar to yesterdays Strawberry Orange Basil Green Smoothie. I did use half Coconut Almond Milk and 1/2 water (ran out of milk :))  — perhaps that was the issue…

Hit the gym for another day this morning … and boy are my legs and abs T-I-R-E-D!!  Sure hope this Energy Booster Smoothie does the trick! As with my previous green smoothies, I used Coconut Almond Milk and did not add the ginger or Chia seeds. It was definitely one of the better smoothies I have had so far!

Day 8 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Cilantro Pear Detox  Smoothie

It’s a new work week for us and we even made it back to the gym this morning … feels so good to work out!  This smoothie was  perfect for our post work meal —  I think this one was my favorite of the bunch so far!  Strange since it has no berries in it …  Try it and let me know what you think!

1 Small handful of Cilantro
½ Rib of Celery
1 Cup Greens of your choice
1 tsp. Chia or Hemp seeds *optional
1-2 Cups of Coconut Water, Water or Almond Milk

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

The original recipe called for just water or coconut water, but as with my previous smoothies, I used Coconut Almond Milk and it blended up AWESOME!  I added 1 cup of spinach for my greens and as with the other green smoothies I didn’t add any optional seeds.

Day 5 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Blue Nutrition Booster Smoothie

Well two days in a row now my hubby and I have made it to the gym, YAY US!! So, today we are enjoying our smoothies for lunch instead of a morning snack. I was really excited to see another smoothie with Bananas and Blueberries!  These seem to be my favorite out of the bunch…

Blue Nutrition Booster Smoothie

Blue Nutrition Booster Smoothie

1 Frozen Banana
½ Cup Frozen Blueberries
2 Leaves of Kale (Or about 1 handful of Spinach)
1 inch piece of Ginger (or to taste)
1 tbsp of Hemp or Chia Seeds
1-2 Cups of Coconut Water, Water or Almond Milk

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

I used Coconut Almond Milk again today and it blended up perfect! Mine is the one that is a bit “greener” — looks like I added more kale and less blueberries than I did to my hubbies. As with the other smoothies, I did not add Ginger or Seeds. Other than the green color, you would never know it had veggies in it :).
