Day 30 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Purify Me Green Smoothie

The 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge has come to an end and I’m kinda bummed :(.  Not quite sure what I am going to do tomorrow…

Today’s smoothie was filled with a bunch of things I did not have on hand, so I had to modify quite a bit.  But in the end, it really tasted great!  I used frozen bananas, kale, 1/2 an orange, some Essante  Organics Earth Greens (in place of Spirulina) and Essante Organics 7.365pH Chocolate Protein to pump up the protein content.  The orange gave a bit of a “tang” to the chocolate covered banana flavor.  Strange combination, but definitely something I will make again!

Purify Me Green Smoothie

1 Frozen Banana
1 handful of Sprouts
2 handfuls of Leafy Greens (kale or bok choy)
1 handful of Parsley
1 tbsp. Hemp or Chia Seeds
1 tsp. Spirulina
1 inch piece of ginger

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

Day 28 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Green Detox Support Smoothie

WOW,  I can’t believe the 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge is almost over — only a couple more days!  I have really learned to like my morning smoothies with more than just berries or PB2!  I did modify today’s green smoothie a bit as I had no parsley or sprouts, but I did add some spinach, celery and banana.  As with my previous smoothies, I used Coconut Almond milk and no ginger or seeds.  As you can see the smoothie was very thick and creamy … which is just the way I like them!

Green Detox Support Smoothie

1 Pear
1 handful of Broccoli Sprouts
1 handful of Parsley
½ Rib of Celery* optional if you have some left over
½ Banana* optional sweetness
1 inch piece of ginger
1 tbsp. Chia or Hemp Seeds
1 Cup of Coconut Water or Water

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

Day 27 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Pear Bok Choy Detox Green Smoothie

A Green Smoothie — that isn’t Green!   I really enjoyed today’s smoothie, even mixed with Coconut Almond Milk.  It was different from the rest, but the milk and frozen fruits I think really made this smoothie thick and creamy — I actually had to add extra milk to thin it down some!   The skin from the pear was a bit gritty, but that likely has to do with my Ninja and not the recipe itself …  Give it a try and let me know what you think!

1 Leaf of Bok Choy
1 Anjou Pear
½ Frozen Banana (or whole if you need more sweetness)
1 inch piece of Ginger
1 handful of Parsley
1 cup coconut water or water

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.

Day 17 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Ginger Limeaide Smoothie

Not bad … but nothing special either.  Seems like all the green smoothies with celery and banana seem to taste the same — like banana and celery!   I only used 1/2 lime and spinach for my greens instead of parsley.  Perhaps if I added a full lime it would have made a difference?   I did use Coconut Almond Milk which blended up nice and thick with the frozen banana.  To be honest, I am looking forward to my green smoothie on Day 18  … it has coconut in it :)!!!

Day 7 : Green Smoothie Challenge

Green Apple Ginger Smoothie

Ok, not to thrilled with today’s smoothie.  Could have been user error as well — mixed it with Coconut Almond Milk instead of water??  I totally spaced it when I was making it and realized after I added the milk that cucumbers and milk don’t go well together … oops.

 As with the Apple Basil Vitamin Booster Smoothie from yesterday, today’s smoothie also had the consistency of baby food.  I did add a bit more milk today to see if it would make a difference.  It did, though not sure if it was a good difference or not —  it was more like watered down baby food!

Apple Cucumber Green Smoothie

Green Apple Ginger Smoothie

1 Apple
¼ Field Cucumber (or about ½ cup of cucumber)
1 Cup of Spinach
1 handful of Parsley
1 inch piece of Ginger (or to taste)
1-2 Cups of Coconut Water or Water

Instructions: Wash all your produce. Chop and put into blender with a small amount of liquid to start. Add more as needed until you reach your desired consistency.
